The ACCUPRO ACC-G055-4 is a solid carbide retaining ring grooving tool designed for internal grooving operations in precision machining applications. Built from submicron carbide, this tool delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed when cutting narrow retaining ring grooves in bored or drilled holes. The 3/8-inch shank diameter and 2.5-inch overall length make it compatible with standard tool holders used on lathes and machining centers. A groove width of 0.0560 inches and a projection of 0.1100 inches define the cutting geometry, while the 1/4-inch maximum hole depth keeps the tool within its designed engagement range.
This grooving tool is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops, production machining environments, or maintenance-repair-overhaul facilities. It is typically used when boring internal grooves to seat retaining rings or snap rings in bores starting at a minimum hole diameter of 0.3750 inches. The solid carbide construction makes it appropriate for ferrous and non-ferrous materials where tight groove tolerances are required.
Designed as an OEM-style grooving tool for use in standard 3/8-inch shank tool holders on CNC lathes, manual lathes, and machining centers performing internal retaining ring groove operations.
Installation and use of this tooling should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with internal grooving operations. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is secured before mounting or removing the tool. Confirm shank clamp torque meets the tool holder specification before cutting. Do not exceed the stated maximum hole depth or minimum hole diameter to avoid tool deflection or breakage.
