The ACCUPRO A-6140280R is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate starter holes for subsequent drilling operations on metalworking and machining jobs. With a 120-degree drill point angle, a 2.8mm cutting diameter (0.1102 inches), and a 38mm overall length (1.4961 inches), this tool provides consistent, on-center spotting with minimal walkout. The 2-flute spiral design and right-hand cut orientation ensure clean chip evacuation during short-cycle spotting passes. The bright/uncoated finish makes the tool suitable for general-purpose applications across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production machining, and toolroom environments are the primary users of this tool.
This spotting drill is intended for general-purpose spotting and center-locating operations on machining centers, CNC mills, and drill presses. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 3mm diameter (0.1181 inches) fits standard collet chucks and drill chuck toolholding systems. The 7.5mm flute length (0.2953 inches) is sized for shallow spotting passes rather than full-depth drilling. Single-ended construction means the tool is run from one end only. It is well suited to high-volume production setups where consistent hole location and point accuracy are required before a standard twist drill or reamer follows.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard collet chucks and drill chucks that accept a 3mm straight-cylindrical shank on machining centers, CNC mills, and drill presses.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before mounting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Verify collet or chuck runout is within acceptable tolerance before use, as excessive runout will degrade spotting accuracy and reduce tool life. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant as dictated by material and shop practice.
