The ACCUPRO A-6140260R is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate pilot indentations before drilling operations in metal, composite, and other hard materials. It features a 120-degree drill point angle, a 2.6mm cutting diameter (0.1024 inches), and a 38mm overall length (1.4961 inches). With two spiral flutes and a bright uncoated finish, this single-ended tool delivers clean, precise spot marks that keep follow-up drills centered and on location. The straight cylindrical shank measures 3mm in diameter (0.1181 inches). Manufactured from solid carbide for rigidity and wear resistance, this tool is suited for general-purpose spotting applications in production and job-shop environments.
This spotting drill is used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills wherever accurate hole location is required before through-drilling or tapping. The 120-degree included angle is a common standard that matches a wide range of twist drill point geometries, reducing the tendency for the follow-up drill to walk at entry. It is appropriate for light-duty to general-purpose work in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and CNC operators are the primary users. The 7.5mm flute length (0.2953 inches) keeps the engagement zone short and rigid, which is important at small diameters where deflection can compromise positional accuracy.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard straight-shank collets and drill chucks accepting a 3mm shank diameter across CNC machining centers, drill presses, and milling machines.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator using a collet or drill chuck rated for the 3mm straight shank. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or changing the tool. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before production use, as concentricity is critical at small diameters. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate when spotting solid carbide tooling.
