The ACCUPRO 95172618 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a right-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction. The flutes run 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) in length of cut, and the tool measures 3 inches in overall length. An AlCrTiN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in high-speed or dry cutting conditions. The Smart-Weldon shank and stub-length configuration make this tool well suited for rigid setups where reach must be controlled. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this type of end mill in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations in hardened steels, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys where a corner radius is required to reduce stress concentration and edge chipping. The 38-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The centercutting design allows for plunge milling entries. Extended-reach geometry provides added clearance for pocketing and profiling operations in deeper workpiece features. The stub-length body keeps deflection low during tight-tolerance passes.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch tool holders and collet chucks compatible with Smart-Weldon shank geometry. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting 1/2 inch shank tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the tool holder manufacturer torque and runout specifications. Verify the TIR does not exceed 0.0004 inch after installation to maintain dimensional accuracy and tool life. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in a safe state before loading or removing the tool. Do not exceed the tool's rated length of cut when programming depth-of-cut passes.
