The ACCUPRO 89699094 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate, centered starting points for follow-on drilling operations. Ground to a 120-degree drill point angle, it produces a clean conical seat that guides twist drills and reduces walking on flat or curved workpiece surfaces. The tool measures 8mm in cutting diameter with an overall length of 63mm (approximately 2.48 inches) and a 20mm flute length. The bright, uncoated finish makes it well suited for general-purpose spotting in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists, tool-and-die shops, and CNC operators rely on this type of single-ended spotting drill to establish consistent hole location before reaming, tapping, or deep-hole drilling.
This spotting drill is intended for general-purpose machining applications in job shops, production environments, and maintenance operations. The 8mm straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks, drill chucks, and toolholders commonly used on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Right-hand cutting direction is the standard configuration for conventional spindle rotation. The two-flute spiral design clears chips efficiently during short spotting passes, making it practical for high-mix, low-volume work where cycle times are tight and accuracy matters.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard drill chucks and collet chuck toolholders accepting an 8mm straight cylindrical shank, compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills running right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and that collet or chuck runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning the spotting operation, as excessive runout will defeat the purpose of accurate hole location. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and verify spindle speed and feed rate are set according to the tool manufacturer's recommended parameters for solid carbide spotting drills at this diameter.
