The ACCUPRO 89698864 is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate center locations and chamfered entry points for subsequent drilling operations. With a 7/8 inch (0.875 inch) cutting diameter and a 120-degree point angle, it establishes precise, consistent starting positions that reduce drill walk and improve hole location accuracy. The 4-inch overall length and single-ended straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders on machining centers, CNC mills, and drill presses. This tool is intended for installation and use by machinists and tooling professionals working in general-purpose metal fabrication and production environments.
This spotting drill is suited for general-purpose spotting applications across a range of workpiece materials where a clean, accurate entry chamfer is required before full-depth drilling. Its right-hand cut spiral flute geometry supports standard clockwise spindle rotation. The 1.75-inch flute length provides adequate chip clearance during spotting passes, and the bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for dry cutting or use with standard cutting fluids. Typical applications include production machining, job shop work, and fixture-plate drilling where hole position tolerance is critical.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard straight-shank tool holders, ER collet chucks, and drill chucks accepting a 7/8 inch diameter shank on CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is de-energized before inserting or removing the drill. Secure the shank fully within the collet or chuck to the recommended grip length before tightening. Verify spindle rotation direction is set to right-hand (clockwise) prior to operation.
