The ACCUPRO 820-MG is a single point tool bit designed for precision threading and V-grooving operations on metal lathes and CNC turning centers. Built with a micrograin solid carbide tip brazed to a rigid shank body, this bit delivers consistent thread form geometry at the 60-degree included angle required for standard unified and metric thread profiles. The left-hand cutting direction suits reverse-rotation or right-to-left pass applications. Overall length is 4.5 inches, with a 3/4-inch shank width and 3/4-inch shank height providing substantial rigidity under cutting load. Machinists and toolroom operators working in production or job-shop environments rely on this style of bit for clean, repeatable thread cuts and shoulder approaches.
The 820-MG is configured in the EL style with an offset threading geometry, allowing the cutting edge to reach into tight shoulder clearances during threading passes. The left-hand orientation and offset profile make it well suited for threading toward a shoulder or into a blind recess where a standard right-hand bit cannot reach cleanly. It carries industry standard number EL-12. This tool bit is appropriate for threading and V-grooving to shoulder on steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar machinable materials where micrograin carbide maintains edge life and resists chipping.
Designed as an OEM-style single point threading tool bit compatible with standard 3/4-inch tool post holders and turret tooling blocks used on manual and CNC lathes accepting square shank tool bits.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the shank firmly in a tool post or holder rated for 3/4-inch square shank bits before initiating any cutting pass. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the lathe is powered down before changing or adjusting tool bits. Verify tool height and alignment to the workpiece centerline prior to taking threading passes to maintain proper thread form.
