The ACCUPRO 781025 is a Morse Taper live center designed for use in lathes and turning centers where a rotating tailstock support is required. It features an MT4 taper shank that seats directly into the tailstock spindle, allowing the center point to spin with the workpiece and eliminate friction at high speeds. The standard 60-degree included angle point supports a maximum workpiece weight of 881.85 pounds and a maximum spindle speed of 5,000 RPM. Accuracy is rated at 0.003 mm, making it suitable for precision turning applications. Licensed machinists and tool room technicians are the primary installers of this type of tooling.
This live center is used in manual and CNC lathes equipped with an MT4 tailstock bore. Typical applications include turning between centers, supporting long shafts, and stabilizing workpieces during facing or threading operations in both job shop and production environments. The standard point style is appropriate for general-purpose turning where a pipe or bull-nose center is not required.
Designed as a direct-mount live center for lathes and turning machines with an MT4 Morse Taper tailstock bore.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool room technician. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before seating or removing the taper shank from the tailstock. Clean the tailstock bore and taper shank thoroughly before seating to ensure full contact and accurate runout. Use a drawbar or knockout bar to remove the center from the tailstock bore - never strike the body of the center directly.
