Product Description

The ACCUPRO 77712289 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Ground to a 140-degree split point with web thinning, it starts on contact without a center punch and reduces thrust in tough substrates. The AlTiN coating extends tool life in high-heat applications by providing oxidation resistance and surface hardness. At 3 mm in diameter with a 68 mm overall length and 18.80 mm flute length, this bit suits precision drilling tasks where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required. A right-hand spiral flute with regular helix clears chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. Coolant-through capability makes it compatible with machine tools equipped with internal coolant delivery.

This bit is built for machining centers, CNC drill presses, and manual mills used in metalworking, mold and die, aerospace component, and general precision machining environments. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders in the 3 mm range. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it well suited for stainless steel, hardened steel, cast iron, titanium, and other difficult-to-machine alloys where carbide substrate and AlTiN coating outperform high-speed steel tooling. The diameter tolerance of -0.0005 to 0.0000 inches supports close-tolerance work where hole size accuracy is critical.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide substrate for rigidity and wear resistance in hard materials
  • AlTiN coating provides high oxidation resistance and extended tool life in high-temperature drilling
  • 140-degree standard point with web thinning reduces walking and entry thrust
  • Coolant-through design compatible with through-spindle coolant delivery systems
  • Right-hand, 2-flute spiral geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation
  • Diameter tolerance of -0.0005 to 0.0000 inches supports close-tolerance hole requirements

Compatibility

Designed as a replacement or production-run jobber drill bit for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills accepting straight-cylindrical shank tooling in the 3 mm diameter range.

Installation Notes

Installation and operation of carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with cutting tool setup and machine tool operation. Secure the shank fully in the collet or drill chuck and verify runout before beginning a drilling cycle. Carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to breakage from side loading or interrupted cuts at incorrect feeds and speeds — consult tooling manufacturer cut data for the workpiece material. When using coolant-through capability, confirm coolant pressure and flow rate are matched to the machine spindle specifications.
