The ACCUPRO 77712230 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding metal-cutting and high-performance drilling applications. Built from solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. The bit features a 140-degree drill point angle for reduced thrust and improved center-starting accuracy. With an overall length of 5.197 inches and a flute length of 2.888 inches, it fits standard jobber-length toolholding setups. A web-thinned, tapered web design reduces cutting forces at the chisel edge. This bit is installed and used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and metalworking tradespeople in production and maintenance drilling operations.
The 77712230 is suited for drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials where a standard high-speed steel bit would overheat or wear prematurely. The AlTiN coating supports dry cutting and high-speed machining environments. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 12 mm diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholders used on drill presses, machining centers, and hand-held magnetic drills. The integrated coolant-through feature supports internal coolant delivery when used on compatible CNC equipment, helping clear chips and manage heat at the cutting zone in deep-hole or tight-tolerance applications.
Designed for use in standard jobber-length drill chuck and collet toolholding systems accepting a 12 mm straight-cylindrical shank, including drill presses, machining centers, and magnetic drill units capable of accepting solid carbide tooling.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and energy isolated per lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the toolholder and collet or chuck bore are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side loading, interrupted cuts beyond rated parameters, or impact from improper handling. Verify that spindle speed and feed rate settings are appropriate for solid carbide before engaging the cut.
