The ACCUPRO 75548974 is a WNMG-style carbide turning insert designed for external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries ANSI insert code WNMG431 and ISO insert code WNMG080404, establishing direct cross-reference for toolroom ordering. The insert features an 80-degree trigon shape, a 0.80 mm corner radius, and a PVD coating applied to a carbide substrate under manufacturer grade ACM25P. With six cutting edges per insert and a negative side clearance geometry, this insert maximizes cost-per-edge efficiency in production turning environments. It is installed and changed by machinists and CNC operators as routine consumable tooling.
The 75548974 is suited for turning steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), and special or super alloys (ISO S). Its grade characteristics span high wear-resistance to high toughness for steel, high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness for stainless steel, and moderate wear-resistance and toughness for super alloys. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning on general-purpose CNC turning centers and engine lathes. The IPK+ chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across these material groups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement carbide turning insert for toolholders accepting WNMG431 or WNMG080404 inserts with clamp, lever lock, pin, or screw holding methods and a 0.5000 inch inscribed circle.
Insert indexing and replacement is performed by machinists and CNC operators with the machine powered off and the spindle locked or in a safe state per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing clamp or screw-type holding hardware. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Verify insert orientation and cutting edge selection before resuming the machining cycle.
