The ACCUPRO 75355180 is a CVD-coated carbide turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built to ANSI code SCMT432 and ISO code SCMT120408, this square-shaped insert features a neutral hand orientation, a 7-degree relief angle, and a 0.0315 inch (0.80 mm) corner radius. The grade ACK20P carbide substrate with CVD coating delivers high wear resistance against steel (P) and cast iron (K) workpieces. Four usable cutting edges extend tool life and reduce per-edge cost, making this insert a practical choice for production turning environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing turning passes on steel and cast iron components. The WM+ chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip control across a range of feeds and depths. The maximum depth of cut is 0.1181 inch (3.00 mm), keeping this insert in its optimal operating range for moderate-to-light material removal. The screw-type insert holding method provides positive location in compatible SCMT-style toolholders. Applications span general-purpose shaft turning, facing, and contouring in job shops and production facilities.
Designed for use in SCMT-style turning toolholders that accept SCMT432 (ISO SCMT120408) inserts with screw-type clamping. Verify toolholder pocket geometry, clearance angle, and insert seat dimensions against manufacturer specifications before installation.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new cutting edge. Follow all applicable shop safety protocols and machine guarding requirements during tooling changes.
