The ACCUPRO 75287151 is a VCMT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the ANSI code VCMT331 and ISO code VCMT160404, with a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape and a 7-degree relief angle. The insert is manufactured in grade ACP25M with a CVD coating, delivering high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The neutral hand orientation and positive side clearance make it a versatile choice for finish and semi-finish turning passes where edge geometry and surface finish consistency matter.
This insert is suited for light to moderate turning applications on CNC turning centers and manual lathes in production and job-shop environments. The WM+ chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation during continuous and interrupted cuts on steel, stainless, and cast iron components. The screw-clamping holding method provides secure seating in compatible VCMT toolholders. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.1181 inches and a corner radius of 0.0157 inches, this insert is best applied to finishing and light roughing passes requiring tight dimensional tolerances.
Designed for use in VCMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders conforming to ANSI VCMT331 and ISO VCMT160404 standards. Suitable for turning applications on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials as indicated by primary material codes P, M, and K.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered off and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque range — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Always verify tool offset and take a light test cut before returning to full production depths.
