The ACCUPRO 75283606 is a VNMG-style indexable carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured in the ACP15K grade with a CVD coating and WL+ chip breaker geometry, this insert delivers high wear resistance across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation and negative side clearance (clearance code N, tolerance code M) make it a versatile choice for standard finishing and semi-finishing passes. With four usable cutting edges per insert, it offers extended tooling life per unit. The 0.1874-inch insert thickness and 0.3752-inch inscribed circle conform to ANSI code VNMG331 and ISO code VNMG160404.
This insert is suited for production and job-shop turning environments where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required across a range of workpiece materials. It is appropriate for both high-volume CNC turning centers and general-purpose engine lathes. Grade characteristics qualify it for steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) applications, spanning high wear resistance to moderate toughness requirements. Machinists, tooling technicians, and CNC operators working with these material families will find it a direct fit for standard VNMG toolholders.
Conforms to ANSI insert code VNMG331 and ISO insert code VNMG160404. Compatible with toolholders accepting VNMG-style inserts using clamp, lever lock, pin, or screw holding methods.
Insert installation should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use a torque wrench appropriate for the toolholder manufacturer's specified fastener type when securing the clamping screw or lever. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature edge failure. Indexing to a fresh cutting edge requires only removal and rotation of the insert — no special tooling is needed beyond the appropriate wrench or key for the holding method.
