The ACCUPRO 75282731 is a VCMT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries ANSI insert code VCMT331 and ISO code VCMT160404, making it a direct cross-reference in standard tooling systems. The insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) V-shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a 0.40 mm (0.0157 inch) corner radius. The CVD coating and ACM20P grade deliver high wear resistance with moderate toughness. The insert is held by screw clamping and has a positive side clearance geometry, contributing to clean chip formation on both steel and stainless steel workpieces.
This insert is suited for finish and semi-finish turning of steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) materials in production and job-shop environments. The WSF+ chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation across a range of feed rates and depths of cut up to 2.25 mm (0.0886 inch). It is typically installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in both high-volume production cells and prototype turning work. The neutral hand orientation allows flexible use in both left- and right-hand toolholders that accept VCMT-style inserts.
Designed as a screw-on replacement insert for VCMT-style toolholders accepting ANSI VCMT331 or ISO VCMT160404 inserts. Compatible with toolholders rated for the CI series insert seat with a 9.53 mm (0.3752 inch) inscribed circle and 4.76 mm (0.1874 inch) insert thickness.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, confirm the machine is in E-stop or powered down and the spindle is fully stopped. Use the correct Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert seat and clamping components for chips or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
