The ACCUPRO 75264929 is a VCMT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC and manual lathes. It carries ANSI insert code VCMT331 and ISO insert code VCMT160404. The insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 7-degree relief angle, and a PVD coating applied over a carbide substrate. Grade ACM25P with the WM+ chip breaker geometry gives this insert a working range that spans steel, stainless steel, and special and super alloys. A neutral hand orientation suits it for both OD turning and facing operations. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, production, or aerospace environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for external turning, light finishing, and profiling applications where a sharp, positive-clearance geometry is required. The 35-degree included angle allows access to tight shoulders and contoured workpieces. The WM+ chip breaker is optimized for medium finishing cuts on steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), and special or super alloys (ISO S). A maximum depth of cut of 0.1181 inches (3.00 mm) defines the upper limit for material removal per pass. The screw-clamp holding method provides secure seating in compatible VCMT toolholders.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for VCMT331 or VCMT160404 insert seats in standard screw-clamp VCMT toolholders. Consult your toolholder manufacturer index to confirm seat geometry and shim requirements before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout condition before insert indexing or replacement. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to tighten the clamping screw to the recommended seating torque per that manufacturer's documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Never exceed the maximum depth of cut specification for this insert geometry, as doing so can cause premature edge fracture or toolholder damage.
