The ACCUPRO 75242792 is a VCMT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the ANSI code VCMT331 and ISO code VCMT160404, featuring a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a 7-degree relief angle and positive side clearance. The CVD coating and ACP35M manufacturer grade deliver a balance of wear resistance and toughness suited to interrupted and continuous cuts on steel, stainless steel, and special or super alloys. The insert seats via screw-holding method and provides two usable cutting edges per insert, making it a cost-effective choice for production turning operations.
This insert is intended for turning applications on steel (P-class), stainless steel (M-class), and special and super alloys (S-class) workpiece materials. It fits standard VCMT-style toolholders and is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes within its rated maximum depth of cut. Machinists working in job shops, production floors, and aerospace or oil-and-gas environments will find the WM+ chip breaker geometry effective at managing chip control across a range of feed rates and cutting depths. The 0.0315-inch corner radius supports a good surface finish while maintaining edge strength.
Designed for use in VCMT-style screw-on turning toolholders accepting ANSI VCMT331 or ISO VCMT160404 inserts. Rated for primary workpiece material codes P (steel), M (stainless steel), and S (special and super alloys).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench or insert key to seat the clamping screw evenly; do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new edge to ensure proper contact and dimensional accuracy.
