The ACCUPRO 75231845 is a CI-style grooving insert designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a cutting width of 0.0787 inches (2.000 mm) and a corner radius of 0.0059 inches (0.15 mm), making it suited for tight-tolerance groove profiles. The insert is manufactured in grade ACP45M with a PVD coating applied for enhanced wear resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting speeds. Positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces and heat generation at the insert tip. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments select this insert for its consistent dimensional performance.
This insert fits CI-series grooving toolholders and is appropriate for use in both light-duty finishing and moderate-stock grooving applications across a range of workpiece materials. The ACP45M grade with PVD finish performs well on steel, stainless alloys, and similar ferrous materials under standard flood-coolant or dry cutting conditions. It is identified by Insert Size Code 24 within the CI series, which allows straightforward cross-referencing when ordering replacements or stocking a toolcrib. The GPP chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation, reducing the risk of chip packing in narrow groove profiles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CI-series grooving toolholders accepting Size Code 24 inserts. Verify holder series and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before seating or replacing the insert. Secure the insert firmly using the specified clamp, screw, or self-grip holding method per the toolholder manufacturer instructions. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to avoid seating errors that affect cutting geometry.
