The ACCUPRO 72017585 is a single-end, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding applications. It features a 0.25-inch mill diameter, six flutes, and a 0.030-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge. The AlTiN+ coating provides thermal resistance and hardness retention at elevated cutting temperatures. Variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic vibration during cuts, improving surface finish and tool life. This end mill is centercutting and runs in a right-hand cutting direction with right-hand flute orientation. It is sized for use in standard 0.25-inch collet or end mill holders.
This tool is engineered primarily for machining high-temperature alloys, classified under workpiece material code S. Typical applications include aerospace components, turbine hardware, and other parts produced from nickel-based, titanium, or cobalt-chrome alloys where tool life and edge integrity are critical. The 0.50-inch length of cut and 2.50-inch overall length make it well suited for shallow-to-moderate-depth profiling, contouring, and finishing passes in tight-tolerance work. Machinists running 5-axis and high-speed machining centers will find this geometry particularly appropriate for finishing difficult-to-machine superalloys.
Designed for use in standard 0.25-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, or shrink-fit tooling systems. Primary workpiece material designation is high-temperature alloy (material code S), including nickel, titanium, and cobalt-chrome alloys.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine controls locked out. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the toolholder per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout at the tool tip before initiating a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide end mills. Follow shop-specific feeds and speeds guidelines for high-temp alloy machining and confirm coolant delivery method is appropriate for the AlTiN+ coating.
