The ACCUPRO 72009962 is a single-end, solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling in high-temperature alloys and other difficult-to-machine materials. It features a 1/2 inch (6.35 mm) mill diameter with six flutes and an AlTiN+ coating that provides thermal resistance and extended tool life under aggressive cutting conditions. The variable helix angle, ranging from 36 to 40 degrees, combined with a variable index design, suppresses chatter and improves surface finish. This end mill is center-cutting, allowing direct plunge entry. It is suited for use by machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, defense, and other precision manufacturing environments.
This end mill is designed for milling high-temp alloys (material code S), including nickel-based superalloys, titanium, and similar materials that generate significant cutting heat. The 1/2 inch shank diameter matches the mill diameter, making it compatible with standard ER and side-lock toolholders of that bore size. With a 1.0 inch length of cut and a 3.0 inch overall length, it fits standard toolholder setups without extended reach. It is not configured for coolant-through delivery, so flood or mist coolant applied externally is the typical approach for heat management in these materials.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch bore toolholders on CNC machining centers. Primary workpiece material designation is high-temp alloy (code S). No specific machine or holder model compatibility was provided by the manufacturer for this listing.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Use a calibrated torque wrench when tightening collet nuts or set screws to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation before beginning any cutting operation, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality.
