The ACCUPRO 63309603 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter U (0.3680 inches) with a 140-degree notched point angle. It carries an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating for high-performance drilling in tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The web-thinned, parallel-web construction reduces entry thrust and improves centering accuracy. At 3 inches overall length with a 1.766-inch spiral flute and a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank, this bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders. Right-hand cutting spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently, making it well-suited for production and repair shop environments where tool life and hole quality matter.
This bit is used in machine shop, maintenance, and fabrication applications where close-tolerance holes in steel, cast iron, stainless, aluminum, or hardened alloys are required. The solid carbide substrate and AlTiN coating allow higher cutting speeds and feeds compared to cobalt or HSS tooling. Maximum drilling depth is 1.470 inches, making it appropriate for through-holes and moderate-depth blind holes in plate, structural shapes, and machined components. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and industrial maintenance mechanics are the primary users.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement or production drill bit for applications requiring a Letter U (0.3680 inch) diameter hole; fits any drill press, machining center, or hand drill accepting a 3/8-inch straight shank.
Install and remove tooling only with the machine spindle fully stopped and power isolated. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet to the manufacturer-recommended grip depth before operation. Solid carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side-loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed rate adjustment, or use in hand-held portable drills where lateral movement cannot be controlled. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety codes when selecting speeds, feeds, and cutting fluids.
