Installation Notes

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable LOTO procedures. Insert the collet into the ER40 chuck body before threading on the clamping nut — never tighten the nut with the collet seated in it outside of the chuck body. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the chuck manufacturer's specified nut torque range to avoid over-clamping, which can damage the collet bore. Inspect the collet bore and taper surfaces for chips or burrs before each use.
