The ACCUPRO 4500376 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride), this bit handles elevated cutting temperatures and abrasive workpiece materials that would rapidly wear high-speed steel tooling. The 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch decimal) diameter, 140-degree web-thinned point geometry reduces thrust force at entry and helps the bit self-center on curved or angled surfaces. With an overall length of 4.174 inches and a flute length of 1.969 inches at a 3xD ratio, this is a stub-length format suited for rigid setups and CNC machining centers where minimizing deflection is critical. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation in deep-hole applications.
This bit is primarily intended for machining stainless steels and other hard, work-hardening alloys common in industrial fabrication, aerospace component work, and mechanical contracting. The straight cylindrical shank (0.3906 inch diameter) seats in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute pattern makes it compatible with conventional CNC and manual drilling operations. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and mechanical contractors working with 300- and 400-series stainless will find the TiAlN coating and web-thinned point essential for consistent hole quality and extended tool life.
Designed as a high-performance OEM-style screw machine drill bit for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling setups where a 3/8 inch straight-shank bit with coolant-through capability is required. Primary workpiece material designation is stainless steels per the ASSC140-TA-CL series specification.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with cutting tool setup procedures. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Activate coolant flow prior to drilling when using the coolant-through feature to prevent thermal shock to the carbide. Inspect the cutting edge and point geometry before each use — carbide is brittle and should not be used if chipping or cracking is visible.
