The ACCUPRO 4500242 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials, with a primary focus on stainless steel. It features a 140-degree split point angle for precise entry and reduced walking, a TiAlN coating for heat resistance and extended tool life, and coolant-through capability to flush chips and manage heat at the cutting zone. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 8 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 3.58 inches (91 mm). This drill is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual setups where tight tolerances and clean holes are required.
This bit is intended for professional machinists, tool and die shops, maintenance shops, and fabrication facilities working with stainless steel, high-alloy steels, and similarly tough workpiece materials. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate flute length for typical jobber drilling depths. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation. The R-thinned web reduces thrust force at entry, which is especially useful when drilling stainless to minimize work hardening at the hole entrance.
Designed as a high-performance replacement jobber drill for CNC and manual drilling applications in stainless steel and similar hard materials, with an 8 mm straight shank compatible with standard ER collets, drill chucks, and hydraulic toolholders accepting that shank diameter.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder to the manufacturer-recommended grip depth before operation. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper setup, or excessive runout, which can cause chipping or sudden fracture. When using coolant-through capability, confirm that the toolholder and spindle are rated and configured for through-coolant delivery before pressurizing the system.
