The ACCUPRO 4500202 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for precision drilling in carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) materials and other abrasive composites. The bit features a diamond coating and a 140-degree point angle optimized to reduce delamination and fiber pullout common when drilling composite workpieces. With an overall length of 2.91 inches and a flute length of 1.42 inches, this is a compact, rigid tool suited for controlled-depth applications. The straight cylindrical shank measures 6 mm in diameter for secure chuck engagement. Right-hand cutting direction with a regular spiral flute geometry promotes clean chip evacuation during the cut.
This drill bit is intended for use in machining and fabrication environments where CFRP panels, laminates, and composite structural components are drilled to tight tolerances. Typical applications include aerospace component fabrication, motorsport composites, and advanced manufacturing shops running CNC machining centers or high-speed drill presses. The specialized grade and diamond coating make this bit a purpose-built tool for abrasive non-metallic materials where standard HSS or uncoated carbide tools wear prematurely. Installation and operation of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with composite machining practices. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation, and verify runout is within acceptable limits to avoid premature edge chipping on the carbide cutting edges. When drilling CFRP, use a backing board at the exit face to reduce delamination, and follow applicable shop safety protocols for composite dust, which requires respiratory protection per OSHA guidelines. Do not exceed the spindle speed and feed parameters recommended for solid carbide tooling in composite materials.
