The ACCUPRO 4500160 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built to DIN specification, it features a 140-degree split point with R-thinned web geometry that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation on entry. The TiAlN coating extends tool life in high-heat applications. At 3.20 mm (0.1260 inches) in diameter with a 2.5984-inch overall length, this drill fits standard straight-shank toolholding systems on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses. It is specified for machinists, toolmakers, and production shops running precision drilling operations in stainless steel and similarly tough alloys.
The 4500160 is rated for stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, making it a go-to choice for shops drilling 300-series or 400-series stainless, hardened alloys, and high-nickel materials where heat buildup and work hardening are concerns. The coolant-through design channels cutting fluid directly to the cutting edge, reducing thermal stress and extending run life in deep-hole applications. A 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance in moderate-depth holes typical of production fixture and component work.
Designed for use in straight-shank toolholders and drill chucks accepting a 6 mm shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and milling machines equipped for coolant-through tooling. Primary application is stainless steel; also applicable to other high-hardness ferrous alloys within the 3.00 mm to 4.00 mm drill size range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Verify shank runout after seating in the holder, as carbide drills are sensitive to concentricity issues that can cause premature breakage. Coolant-through connections should be confirmed and flow tested before production runs. Handling carbide tooling requires care to avoid impact or dropping, which can cause chipping of the cutting edges.
