The ACCUPRO 4500114 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter X (0.3970 inches decimal equivalent) with a 140-degree split-point geometry and a TiAlN coating. It is designed for drilling into hardened materials where standard high-speed steel bits fail to hold an edge. The slow spiral flute design controls chip evacuation in tough, abrasive workpieces, and the UR-thinned web reduces thrust load at entry. With an overall length of 4.375 inches and a straight cylindrical shank measuring 0.500 inches in diameter, this bit mounts directly in standard drill chucks and collet holders. It is used by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance mechanics working on hardened steel components.
The 4500114 is suited for production and maintenance drilling applications in hardened steel, alloy steel, and similarly abrasive ferrous materials. The 2.500-inch flute length provides sufficient depth capacity for most through-hole and blind-hole work in the Letter X size range. No coolant-through capability is present, so adequate surface-applied cutting fluid is recommended when drilling hardened workpieces at elevated feed rates. This bit follows DIN specification standards and carries a specialized grade designation, making it appropriate for shops that require dimensional and quality traceability on tooling.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement or production drill bit for applications requiring a Letter X (0.3970-inch) hole diameter in hardened ferrous materials, conforming to DIN specification standards.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with cutting tool setup and speeds-and-feeds selection for carbide tooling. Secure the straight shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the shank diameter before operation. Apply a compatible cutting fluid at the work surface when drilling hardened materials, as this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges before each use — carbide is brittle and chipping from improper handling will compromise hole quality and dimensional accuracy.
