The ACCUPRO 4500101 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for drilling into hardened materials where standard high-speed steel tooling fails. At 1/2 inch in diameter with a 5-inch overall length and a 140-degree proprietary point angle, this bit is built for aggressive penetration with minimal walking at entry. The TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating extends tool life in high-heat cutting environments. A UR-thinned web reduces thrust requirements at the point. Right-hand cutting with a slow spiral flute geometry makes it well-suited for chip evacuation in tough, dense workpieces. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople using CNC or manual drilling equipment.
This drill bit is intended for use in hardened materials including tool steel, hardened alloy steels, and similarly abrasion-resistant workpieces where a specialized carbide substrate and wear-resistant coating are required. The slow spiral flute design controls chip flow in materials that produce short, brittle chips. The straight cylindrical shank at 1/2 inch diameter seats directly into standard drill chucks or collet-style toolholders without adapters. It is a single-unit item suited for both production and maintenance machining applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use carbide jobber drill for machining operations involving hardened materials. Compatible with any drilling setup that accepts a 1/2-inch straight cylindrical shank.
This drill bit is installed by machinists and CNC operators in drill chucks or collet holders rated for 1/2-inch shanks. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed parameters, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece hardness before beginning the cut.
