The ACCUPRO 4500088 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in hardened materials. It features a 140-degree split point angle with UR-thinned web geometry for improved penetration and reduced thrust in tough workpieces. The drill carries a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating, which increases surface hardness and thermal resistance during high-speed cutting operations. With a slow spiral flute design and right-hand cutting direction, the 4500088 is built for controlled chip evacuation in dense or abrasive substrates. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators specify this drill for applications where standard HSS tooling falls short.
This drill is sized at 4.10 mm (0.1614 inches) in diameter and is intended for use in hardened steels and similarly difficult workpieces where carbide rigidity is required. The straight cylindrical shank (6 mm diameter) fits standard drill chucks and collet systems. It conforms to DIN specification standards and falls within the 4.00 mm to 5.00 mm drill size range, making it a practical selection for metric machining programs that require consistent hole tolerance in that range.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard supply drill for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machine tools equipped with a collet or chuck accepting a 6 mm straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material designation is hardened materials per manufacturer attribute data.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with carbide tooling handling. Carbide is brittle compared to HSS -- avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts without proper setup, or excessive runout in the spindle or chuck. Confirm spindle runout is within acceptable tolerance before seating the tool, as runout accelerates carbide edge chipping. Do not use this drill without confirming the machine setup is appropriate for carbide tooling speeds and feeds.
