The ACCUPRO 4500085 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for drilling hardened materials where standard high-speed steel tooling fails. Ground to a 140-degree split point with UR web thinning, it reduces thrust and improves self-centering at entry. The TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance for dry or near-dry cutting in difficult workpiece materials. At 4.80 mm in diameter (0.1890 inch) with a 72.00 mm overall length (2.835 inches), this bit fits standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld power tools with a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. It is sold as a single unit and suited for machinists and toolroom technicians working with hardened steel, tool steel, and similar alloys.
This drill bit is intended for applications involving hardened materials where a slow-spiral flute geometry helps evacuate chips without deflection. The slow spiral and 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio make it appropriate for short to medium-depth holes in materials that work-harden or generate significant heat at the cutting edge. Typical install scenarios include production machining, tool and die work, and maintenance environments where drilling into treated or case-hardened components is routine. The 140-degree proprietary point geometry conforms to DIN specification standards.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and compatible toolholding systems accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Intended for drilling hardened materials within the 4.00 mm to 5.00 mm drill bit size range (0.1500 to 0.2000 decimal inch).
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the spindle speed and feed appropriate to the workpiece material before starting the cut. Do not exceed the recommended depth-to-diameter ratio for this flute length, as the slow-spiral geometry is optimized for shorter hole depths. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and can fracture if dropped or subjected to side-loading.
