The ACCUPRO 4500074 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for drilling hardened materials where standard high-speed steel tooling fails. Built to DIN specification, it features a 140-degree split point geometry with UR-thinned web for reduced entry force and a TiAlN coating that extends tool life under high heat and abrasion. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders. With an overall length of 2.835 inches (72 mm) and a 5.00 mm cutting diameter, it is sized for precision work in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld power tools used in tool-and-die, aerospace, and general metalworking applications.
This drill bit is suited for machining hardened steels and difficult ferrous alloys where elevated cutting temperatures are a concern. The slow spiral flute design promotes chip control in tough materials, reducing built-up edge and heat concentration at the cutting zone. The 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 1.260-inch (32 mm) flute length are appropriate for moderate-depth holes in workpieces requiring tight positional tolerance. This is a single-piece precision cutting tool intended for use by machinists and toolroom technicians working to close tolerances.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and rotary toolholders accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material compatibility is hardened materials per supplier specification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state per applicable machine safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into the chuck or collet and verify runout before cutting. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; apply external coolant or cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material when required. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and can fracture if operated under excessive lateral load or interrupted cuts without proper feed and speed parameters.
