The ACCUPRO 4500066 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for drilling hardened materials in precision machining applications. At 3.40 mm in diameter with a 140-degree split-point geometry and TiAlN coating, it handles the elevated heat and abrasion generated when cutting hardened steels and other difficult workpiece materials. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks or collet holders, and the slow spiral flute design maintains chip control at the reduced feed rates these materials demand. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments will find this bit sized for detail work where rigidity and edge retention are critical.
This drill is intended for use on hardened materials, making it appropriate for tool steels, die steels, and similarly challenging substrates. It is suited to CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where consistent hole quality and tool life in abrasive or hard workpieces are priorities. The 4xD flute-by-diameter ratio and UR-thinned web reduce thrust force at entry, improving center accuracy on tough stock. No coolant-through capability is present, so external flood or mist coolant is the recommended approach when machining heat-sensitive materials.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems sized for a 4 mm shank diameter, intended for hardened material drilling applications per DIN specification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine in a powered-down, locked-out state per applicable shop safety and OSHA lockout-tagout procedures. Secure the straight shank fully into the chuck or collet and verify runout before cutting. Because this bit has no coolant-through capability, ensure external coolant or mist is directed at the cutting zone when machining hardened or heat-sensitive materials to prevent premature edge breakdown. Consult the drill manufacturer feed-and-speed recommendations for the specific workpiece hardness before committing to a production run.
