The ACCUPRO 4500039 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge 21 (0.1590 inches decimal), designed for drilling hardened materials where high-speed steel tooling fails to hold an edge. The 140-degree split point with UR web thinning reduces entry force and minimizes walking on hard surfaces. A TiAlN coating adds thermal resistance, extending tool life in high-heat cutting conditions. At 2.0625 inches overall length with a 0.875-inch flute, this bit fits standard drill chucks and CNC spindles. It is intended for machinists, toolroom technicians, and production operators working in metal fabrication, tool-and-die, and precision machining environments.
This drill bit is suited for applications involving hardened steels, alloy steels, and other difficult-to-machine materials where a standard carbide or coated HSS drill would wear prematurely. The slow spiral flute geometry is optimized for chip evacuation in tough, work-hardening materials rather than soft or gummy metals. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.1875 inches (3/16 inch) seats cleanly in collet chucks, keyless chucks, and drill press spindles. Right-hand cutting rotation is standard for conventional drill press and CNC machining center operation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling selection for applications requiring a wire gauge 21 drill in solid carbide with a straight shank, conforming to DIN specification for jobber-length drills.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling handling. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without proper feed rate adjustment, and contact with hard fixtures that can chip the cutting edge. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet to the recommended grip depth before operation. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for carbide tooling in the target workpiece material before cutting.
