The ACCUPRO 4500001 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to No. 7 wire gauge (0.2010 inches decimal), designed for drilling hardened materials where high-speed steel tooling fails to hold an edge. The 140-degree split-point geometry with UR web thinning reduces entry thrust and improves self-centering on hard workpieces. A TiAlN coating adds heat and oxidation resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The straight shank measures 0.2500 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 2.875 inches with a 1.2813-inch flute length. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and production shops running tight-tolerance holes in alloy steel, tool steel, or other hardened stock are the primary users of this drill.
This drill bit is suited to CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where a 1/4-inch straight shank can be gripped by standard collets or keyless chucks. Its slow-spiral flute geometry (4xD flute-to-diameter ratio) is engineered for hardened and abrasion-resistant workpiece materials rather than aluminum or soft steel. The two-flute configuration supports chip evacuation in short-chipping hard materials. Coolant-through is not supported; external flood or mist coolant is the appropriate cooling method for hardened-material drilling applications.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses accepting a 0.2500-inch straight shank. Primary workpiece material compatibility is hardened materials as designated by the manufacturer; this bit is not intended for general-purpose or soft-material drilling.
This drill bit should be installed and changed by a qualified machinist following standard tooling procedures. Always power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the bit from any collet or chuck. Secure the shank with adequate grip length to minimize runout; excessive overhang beyond the collet face reduces rigidity and accelerates wear on carbide tooling. Do not use in handheld drill drivers; carbide is brittle and requires the rigidity of a fixed-spindle machine tool.
