The ACCUPRO 40278780 is a clamping screw designed to secure indexable inserts in grooving toolholders used on CNC lathes and turning centers. Threaded to M6 and driven by a hex socket, this steel fastener is part of the CI series and measures 25 millimeters in overall length. It is intended for use with SCB-style toolholders and indexable cut-off blade tool blocks. Machinists and toolroom technicians rely on properly torqued clamping screws to maintain insert seating, prevent insert rotation under cutting loads, and hold tight tolerances during grooving and parting operations. Sold individually.
This clamping screw fits SCB-style grooving toolholder configurations paired with indexable cut-off blade tool blocks. It is suited to production turning environments where inserts are changed frequently and reliable clamping hardware is required to maintain consistent tool geometry. The M6 thread size and hex socket drive are standard for this toolholder family, making this screw a direct replacement when hardware wears or is lost during insert changes.
Compatible with SCB-style grooving toolholders and indexable cut-off blade tool blocks requiring an M6 clamping screw with hex socket drive.
Clamping screws should be installed and removed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician using a properly sized hex key. Before changing inserts or replacing hardware, ensure the machine is powered down, the spindle is stopped, and all motion has ceased. Do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can damage the insert seat or strip the thread in the toolholder body. Inspect the screw threads for wear or damage at each insert change interval.
