The ACCUPRO 39448 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built from powdered metal with a bright/uncoated finish, this tool delivers consistent cutting performance across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 1/2 inch mill diameter pairs with a 1/2 inch shank diameter for direct chuck or collet mounting. With a 1-1/4 inch length of cut and a 3-1/4 inch overall length, it suits both shallow and moderate-depth milling passes. A variable helix geometry helps reduce chatter and harmonic vibration during cuts. Centercutting capability allows plunge milling without a pre-drilled entry hole.
This end mill is suited for use in vertical machining centers, CNC knee mills, and manual milling machines in job shop, toolroom, and production machining settings. It handles slotting, side milling, profiling, and plunge cuts in typical shop materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional and climb milling on the majority of machine tool setups. This tool is appropriate for machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians who require a reliable general-purpose end mill for everyday material removal tasks.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for 1/2 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and set-screw tool holders used on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers requiring a 1/2 inch shank end mill.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the power is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended insertion depth in the holder and confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when securing and torquing the tool holder.
