The ACCUPRO 316056 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composite, and alloy workpieces. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 5-flute geometry, and a zirconium nitride (ZrN) coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance over uncoated carbide. The 37-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces, making it well suited for both roughing and finishing passes. Micrograin carbide construction provides the substrate rigidity needed for tight-tolerance work. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians working with CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
The 316056 is a centercutting end mill, allowing direct plunge entry into a workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The 0.625 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length make it appropriate for standard-depth peripheral milling and slotting applications in production and job-shop environments. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is compatible with conventional CNC spindle rotation. Applications include shoulder milling, contour milling, and slot cutting in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a fine surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required.
Designed as a standard shank end mill for use in tool holders accepting a 0.5 inch shank diameter, including ER collet chucks, set-screw holders, and hydraulic or shrink-fit holders configured for 0.5 inch tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop-standard tool-holding procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully within the collet or holder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the tool holder manufacturer. Verify runout at setup with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on multi-flute carbide tools.
