The ACCUPRO 315546 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Ground from micrograin carbide stock, it carries a ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating that reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding cut cycles. The 1/2 inch mill diameter pairs with a 3-flute, right-hand spiral geometry and a 37-degree helix angle for efficient chip evacuation. Corner radius measures 0.1200 inches, producing a controlled blend radius on inside corners and floor edges. This is a single-end, centercutting tool suitable for plunge, slot, and peripheral milling operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
The 315546 fits CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/2 inch shank. The extended reach design, with a 2-3/8 inch reach length and a reduced neck diameter of 0.4750 inches, allows access to deep pockets and tall workpiece features without interference. The 5/8 inch length of cut handles moderate axial depth passes while the 4 inch overall length accommodates setups requiring clearance above the workpiece or fixture. Typical applications include mold and die work, aerospace structural components, and general precision part machining where a blend radius is required at floor-to-wall intersections.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with a 1/2 inch collet, end mill holder, or equivalent toolholder accepting a 1/2 inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the 1/2 inch shank fully into a clean, undamaged toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chipping before each use. Extended-reach tools are more sensitive to runout than standard-length end mills, so verify TIR at the toolholder before beginning a cut.
