The ACCUPRO 315447 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composite, and engineering-material applications. It features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, a 7/16 inch length of cut, and a 2-1/2 inch overall length. The three-flute geometry paired with a 37-degree spiral helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes at higher feed rates. A zirconium nitride (ZrN) coating reduces friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge, extending tool life in demanding cuts. The micrograin carbide substrate provides edge retention and resistance to chipping. This end mill is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole.
This end mill is suited for light to medium milling operations including slotting, profiling, and contouring on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional spindle setups. An extended reach design with a 1-1/8 inch reach length allows access to deeper pockets and stepped features without tool deflection concerns at this diameter class. Typical users include CNC machinists, tool and die makers, and precision job-shop operators working in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed for use in standard 5/16 inch collets, end mill holders, or ER-style chucks on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Shank diameter tolerance of +0.0001/-0.0004 inches ensures consistent runout in precision toolholders.
A machinist or CNC operator should install this end mill in a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder, ensuring full shank engagement to the recommended minimum depth. Verify spindle and toolholder runout before cutting to protect the cutting edge. Always follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for maximum RPM at this diameter and consult published speeds-and-feeds data for the specific workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use and replace if edge condition is compromised.
