The ACCUPRO 315256 is a single-end ball end mill designed for contouring, profiling, and finishing operations in machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for cutting hardened steels, stainless, cast iron, and non-ferrous alloys. The tool features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 37-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finish. A ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating adds lubricity and thermal resistance, extending tool life in high-speed and dry cutting conditions. Installed by machinists and CNC tool-and-die professionals, this end mill fits standard 3/8 inch collets and tool holders.
This ball end mill is suited for 3-axis and multi-axis CNC machining centers handling mold and die work, complex curved surfaces, and finish passes on hardened workpieces. The 37-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry reduces cutting forces and chatter on light-to-moderate depths of cut. The micrograin carbide substrate supports tighter tolerances and sharper edges compared to standard carbide grades, making it a practical choice for precision shops working in steel, titanium, and high-temperature alloys.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter. Suitable for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous materials including hardened steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or tool holder and torque the retention nut to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting program, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
