The ACCUPRO 314987 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide and finished with a ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced heat buildup during aggressive cuts. The 3/4 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1-1/2 inch length of cut and a 37-degree helix angle, providing efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Three spiral flutes keep the tool rigid while reducing vibration. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this tool for finish milling, slotting, and contour work on CNC and manual mills.
The 314987 is suited for shops running production or prototype work where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. The 3/4 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic chucks common on vertical machining centers (VMCs) and horizontal mills. The 4 inch overall length keeps overhang manageable for most standard milling setups. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry match conventional spindle rotation on virtually all CNC mill platforms. The ZrN finish is particularly effective when machining cast iron, alloy steels, and hardened materials where TiN or uncoated carbide shows premature wear.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for 3/4 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and hydraulic toolholders used on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the holder to minimize runout and prevent tool pull-out under load. Verify shank clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before beginning a cut.
