The ACCUPRO 314878 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a 1/2 inch cutting diameter and a 2-1/4 inch length of cut, this tool handles deep-slot and peripheral milling tasks where rigidity and surface finish matter. The 3-flute geometry with a 37-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in demanding applications. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms.
The 314878 is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals in vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, and manual knee mills. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling setups. The 1/2 inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders commonly found across CNC and manual milling platforms. With a 6 inch overall length, the tool provides extended reach for applications requiring clearance above the workpiece or fixture. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without pre-drilling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for 1/2 inch collets and end mill holders on vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, and manual knee mills requiring a 3-flute square end mill with a 1/2 inch shank diameter.
Installation and operation of this end mill should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before securing the shank. Verify torque specifications for the collet nut or set screw according to the tool holder manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use and do not exceed the tool's rated depth-of-cut or feed parameters for the material being machined.
