The ACCUPRO 314642 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, engineered from micrograin solid carbide for rigidity and wear resistance. It carries a 5/16 inch diameter cutting face with a 7/16 inch length of cut and a 37-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation during aggressive cuts. The ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating adds surface hardness and oxidation resistance, extending tool life in high-temperature cutting environments. This end mill is a right-hand cutting, right-hand spiral tool with three flutes and centercutting capability, making it suitable for plunge operations as well as peripheral and slot milling.
This tool is suited for machinists, toolmakers, and CNC operators working in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance environments. The 5/16 inch shank diameter fits standard collet chucks and tool holders of the same bore size. It is appropriate for milling steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials where a coated carbide tool is specified. The 2-1/2 inch overall length keeps the tool compact for reduced deflection in short-reach applications. No extended reach is incorporated, keeping rigidity maximized at the spindle.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual mills using 5/16 inch bore collets or end mill holders. Compatible with ER-style collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and Weldon-style holders sized for a 5/16 inch shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures for rotating cutting tools. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before inserting or removing the end mill from the tool holder. Seat the shank to the recommended engagement depth in the collet or holder before tightening to prevent pullout during cutting. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and remove the tool from service if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
