The ACCUPRO 314498 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The stub-length configuration provides added stiffness during cuts, reducing deflection. At 3/16 inch diameter with a 5/16 inch length of cut, this end mill suits tight-tolerance slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The 37-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece as well as cut along its side.
This end mill fits standard CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills equipped with a 3/16 inch collet or end mill holder. Stub-length end mills in this diameter range are commonly used in die and mold work, fixture fabrication, aerospace component machining, and general-purpose shop work where access to deep cavities is not required. The bright, uncoated finish makes it well-suited for non-ferrous materials such as aluminum and copper alloys, where coating buildup on the tool can cause adhesion issues.
Designed for use in CNC and manual milling machines accepting a 3/16 inch straight shank via collet chuck or end mill holder. Suitable as a direct replacement or equivalent for stub-length solid carbide square end mills of the same diameter and flute count.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank fully within the collet or holder to the recommended grip depth before tightening — insufficient engagement increases runout and risk of tool pullout. Ensure spindle and workpiece are fully stopped before changing tooling. Verify collet size matches the 3/16 inch shank diameter tolerance before use.
