The ACCUPRO 313406 is a 2-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide stock, it carries a ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating that reduces friction, extends tool life, and helps maintain dimensional stability at elevated cutting temperatures. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. At 6 inches overall length with a 3-1/4 inch length of cut, this is an extra-long reach tool suited for deep-pocket and deep-slot milling operations where standard-length end mills fall short. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments.
This end mill is used in vertical and horizontal milling centers, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills requiring extended reach. The 5/8 inch diameter and matching 5/8 inch shank diameter allow direct toolholder mounting in standard ER, Weldon, or shrink-fit holders of the appropriate bore. Typical applications include deep pocket roughing and finishing, slotting, and peripheral milling in steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional spindle rotation.
Designed as a direct-mount solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard 5/8 inch bore ER collet chucks, Weldon side-lock holders, and shrink-fit toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or quill is locked before mounting or removing the end mill. Confirm the toolholder bore matches the 5/8 inch shank diameter and inspect the shank for nicks or contamination before clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and runout specifications; excessive runout will accelerate coating wear and reduce tool life.
