The ACCUPRO 313177 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide stock, it offers a 3/8 inch cutting diameter with a 5/8 inch length of cut and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes aggressive chip evacuation while reducing cutting forces. The ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in demanding applications. At 2-1/2 inches overall length with a 3/8 inch shank, it fits standard collet and end mill holders. This is a right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute, centercutting tool suited for plunge, slot, and peripheral milling. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary users.
This end mill is well suited for slotting, profiling, and plunge cutting in a range of materials where a micrograin carbide substrate and ZrN coating provide a performance advantage over uncoated or HSS tooling. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled start hole. Applications include mold work, die machining, fixture fabrication, and general CNC milling on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The 2-flute configuration provides excellent chip clearance, making it a practical choice for softer steels, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys where chip packing in the flute is a concern.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 3/8 inch shank square end mill toolholders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit holders used on CNC vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum insertion depth specified by the toolholder manufacturer, and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the rated depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and tool diameter.
