The ACCUPRO 312984 is a two-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a zirconium nitride (ZrN) coating that reduces friction and extends tool life in high-speed cutting applications. The 3/16-inch diameter cutter has a 5/8-inch length of cut and a 2-1/2-inch overall length, making it well suited for detailed slot milling, profiling, and pocket work where corner edge protection is required. Micrograin carbide construction contributes to edge retention at elevated cutting speeds. The 45-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finish.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills for finishing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous alloys, aluminum, and hardened steels. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, giving machinists flexibility in toolpath programming. The 0.020-inch corner radius reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and produces a controlled radius at the base of milled features. Single-end configuration with a 3/16-inch shank makes it a direct-mount option for standard collet chucks and end mill holders.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 3/16-inch shank end mill holders and collet chucks used in standard CNC machining centers and manual milling machines requiring a single-end, corner radius geometry tool.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut, particularly at this diameter where small deviations have a proportionally large effect on surface finish and tool life.
