The ACCUPRO 312979 is a single-end, square-profile carbide end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with zirconium nitride (ZrN), it delivers hardness and heat resistance suited for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 3/16-inch diameter cutting edge pairs with a 45-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry, promoting efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. With a 5/8-inch length of cut and 2-1/2-inch overall length, this tool fits standard CNC machining centers and manual mills. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is intended for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in precision shop environments. The 2-flute design leaves more room for chip clearance, making it well suited for softer metals, plastics, and other materials where chip packing is a concern. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups. The regular-length classification and 3/16-inch shank diameter fit standard collets and toolholders without extended reach adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling option for standard 3/16-inch collets and toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Ensure the collet and toolholder are clean and within spec before seating the shank; the shank diameter tolerance is plus 0.0001 / minus 0.0004 inches. Do not exceed the rated depth of cut for the flute length, and confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine OEM guidelines for feeds, speeds, and coolant application.
