The ACCUPRO 312699 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) mill diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 5 inch overall length. The 7-flute spiral geometry with a 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes at elevated feed rates. An AlCrTiN coating provides heat and oxidation resistance, extending tool life in dry or high-speed cutting environments. The straight-cylindrical shank and right-hand cutting direction make this a straightforward drop-in for standard milling setups. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops or production environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for finish and semi-finish milling passes on ferrous alloys, hardened steels, stainless steel, and similar difficult-to-machine materials where corner integrity and surface quality are critical. The corner radius end geometry reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life compared to sharp-corner end mills. The non-centercutting design means this tool is intended for peripheral and side milling operations rather than plunge cutting. It fits standard ER or side-lock toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch straight shank, making it compatible with most vertical and horizontal machining centers and knee mills.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new installation for applications requiring a 5/8 inch straight-shank corner radius end mill in standard ER collet chucks, hydraulic toolholders, or side-lock holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the recommended insertion depth for the toolholder type in use and torque the collet nut or set screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, as excessive runout on a 7-flute tool accelerates uneven wear.
