The ACCUPRO 312256 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. The 5/8-inch diameter cutter features a 0.060-inch corner radius, five flutes, and an AlCrTiN coating that provides high heat resistance and extended tool life in abrasive or hard materials. A 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the variable index geometry helps reduce harmonic vibration during cut. With a 4-inch overall length and 1.625-inch reach, this tool is built for extended-reach operations where standard-length end mills cannot access the feature. It is centercutting and right-hand cutting with right-hand flute direction, suitable for plunge, slot, and profile milling.
This end mill is suited for production environments and tool rooms working with steels, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys. The extended reach and neck reduction to 0.593 inches allow access to deep pockets and narrow cavities without sacrificing rigidity in the flute zone. The micrograin solid carbide substrate paired with AlCrTiN coating makes it a strong choice for dry or minimal-lubrication cutting strategies common in aerospace, die and mold, and precision machining shops. A single-end configuration keeps the tool profile compact for toolholder clearance in tight setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new-application tool for standard 5/8-inch straight-shank toolholders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit holders used in CNC machining centers and knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before loading or changing end mills. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the minimum clamping depth recommended by the holder manufacturer before torquing the collet nut or set screw. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use; chipped or worn corners should not be run, as they can damage workpieces and toolholders.
